Today we, the Antifascist International Kenya Chapter, join millions across the globe in solemnly commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s historic victory over Nazisma victory not only for one nation, but for all humanity.
Eight decades ago, the Red Army’s advance culminated in the liberation of Auschwitz and the defeat of fascist tyranny, exposing to the world the full horror of Nazi crimes and saving countless lives from extermination and enslavement.
This anniversary is a time to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who stood against fascism on the battlefield and in resistance movements across continents.
The Soviet victory was a defining moment in the defense of human dignity, justice, and the right of all peoples to live free from oppression. It is a legacy that unites us in our ongoing struggle for a world where the horrors of fascism and
genocide are never repeated.
Our Commitment to Countering Fascism
The Antifascist International Kenya Chapter stands firmly in this tradition of resistance. Our commitment is rooted in the understanding-shared by African leaders like Dedan Kimathi and Thomas Sankara that the fight against fascism is
inseparable from the fight against all forms of oppression, racism, and imperialism. We recognize that fascism, in both its historical and modern forms, threatens the very foundations of democracy, equality, and social justice.
Today, we witness a dangerous resurgence of neo-fascism, racism, and xenophobia in many parts of the world. From the normalization of hate speech and violence in Europe, the illegal detainment of migrants in the US, to the rise of extremist groups targeting minorities and undermining democratic institutions, the
warning signs are clear and urgent. Our organization is dedicated to countering
these threats through education, grassroots mobilization, and solidarity with all communities facing discrimination and violence.
A Call to Global Solidarity Against Neo-Fascism
We call upon all people of conscience-across Africa and around the world-to join us in the fight against neo-fascism. The lessons of history are unequivocal: Fascism thrives when good people remain silent. It is our collective duty to remember the sacrifices of those who defeated Nazism and to ensure that their legacy is not
betrayed by indifference or denial.
Let us unite to defend the truth about the past, resist all forms of historical revisionism, and actively oppose the spread of hate, racism, and authoritarianism in our time. We urge governments, civil society, and individuals to reject impunity for fascist crimes, to ban organizations that glorify Nazism and fascism, and to build societies based on justice, equality, and mutual respect.
In the spirit of the antifascist heroes of 1945, and in solidarity with all oppressed peoples, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment: Never again to fascism.
Never again to genocide. Together, we shall defend humanity.
