Access to safe, nutritious food is a human right, yet many public and private hospitals continue to serve substandard meals that compromise patients’ recovery. This is not just a health issue,it is a matter of food justice. The crisis in hospital nutrition reflects a broader injustice where corruption, privatization, and cost-cutting take precedence over human well-being. Undernourished patients remain vulnerable, while powerful players in food supply chains profit from cheap, processed meals. HOSPITALS SHOULD NOURISH, NOT HARM. • Conventional hospital meals fail patients because they are nutritionally poor, highly processed and mass-produced, prioritizing profit over public health.• Real food should be part of treatment. Hospitals must serve locally sourced, organic, and healing diets that support recovery.• Corruption in food procurement must be exposed. Hospitals must be held accountable for ensuring high-quality meals for patients. FOOD JUSTICE IS CLIMATE JUSTICE. The fight for nutritious hospital meals is also a fight for…

US President Donald Trump has once again targeted Venezuela, announcing this Monday, March 24, that his administration will impose secondary tariffs on countries purchasing Venezuelan oil or gas. “Any Country [sic] that purchases oil and/or gas from Venezuela will be forced to pay a Tariff [sic] of 25% to the United States on any Trade [sic] they do with our Country [sic]. All documentation will be signed and registered, and the Tariff [sic] will take place on April 2nd, 2025, LIBERATION DAY IN AMERICA [sic],” wrote Trump in a social media post. The US ruler justified the new economic sanction by using the hard-to-believe narrative of the Aragua Train invasion. According to Trump, the illegal economic coercive measures (euphemistically referred to as “sanctions”) were imposed “for numerous reasons, including the fact that Venezuela has purposefully and deceitfully sent to the United States, undercover, tens of thousands of high level [sic],…

The food system is deeply political. From who owns the land to who grows, harvests, and profits from our food;systemic racism has shaped every aspect of what we eat. Confronting this reality means challenging the structures that exploit marginalized communities while promoting sustainable, just alternatives. An anti-racist diet is more than just what’s on our plate; it’s about dismantling unjust food policies, recognizing the historical and ongoing exploitation of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in agriculture, and creating food systems that empower rather than oppress. So, what can we do?✔ Learn the history of the land and who works it✔ Educate ourselves on privilege and power in the food system✔ Support and uplift the voices and businesses of BIPOC food producers Food sovereignty is a key pillar in the fight against fascism. If we want a future of justice and sustainability, we must start with what’s on our…

The Trump administration is deporting immigrants with ZERO CRIMINAL RECORD or proof of gang ties to hard-labor prisons in El Salvador. Relatives of recently deported Venezuelan immigrants said they were anguished and shocked to discover their loved ones were sent to a notorious mega-prison in El Salvador after they recognized them in a social media video. The families strongly deny that their relatives are connected to the Venezuelan gang known as Tren de Aragua, a claim the Trump administration has used to justify their quick deportations under a rarely used law from 1798, the Alien Enemies Act. They say their family members have been falsely accused and targeted because of their tattoos. The families also said they never expected their loved ones to be sent to a massive prison in El Salvador instead of their home country, Venezuela. The White House said in a statement Tuesday that it was “confident…

‘My children were killed hungry’, mother grieves after Israeli air strikes on Gaza A Palestinian mother in Gaza says her children were killed in an Israeli air strike without having had suhoor, the pre-dawn meal which initiates a day of fasting during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. ‘My children were killed hungry,’ she weeps. ‘I was asleep. I woke up to findmy husband and my children dead.’ The family was one of many who have struggled to find food as Israel imposed a complete blockade on the territory, blocking all aid from entering Gaza since 2 March. Israel has resumed its bombing campaign on Gaza with US approval, as the humanitarian crisis worsens. With food, water and medical supplies severely limited, aid organisations warn that starvation is becoming as great a threat as the air strikes themselves. The Israeli military is resuming its all-out assault on Palestinian families in…

South Africa’s ambassador to the USA, Ebrahim Rasool, has been expelled from the country after he made comments calling Trump and Elon Musk “white supremacists”. The state department issued a swift statement that declared the career ANC partyman “persona non grata” in the USA, and a “race baiting” politician who hates President Donald Trump. Well, Mr. Rasool breached diplomatic norms by abusing the leader of his host country. There is no way any ambassador can do what Rasool did, and expect no retaliation. However, this small diplomatic storm has much larger roots: the Israeli-Palestine conflict. South Africa took Israel to the ICC, accusing the Jewish state of genocide against Palestinians during their 17 month war in Gaza. Israel lost that case, and cut diplomatic ties with South Africa, which responded in kind too. USA always takes Israeli side no matter what. The ANC government has never forgotten, nor forgiven Israel…

“There is no escape from the conclusion that Israel has employed sexual and gender-based violence against Palestinians to terrorise them and perpetuate a system of oppression that undermines their right to self-determination.” A new report by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry accuses Israel of employing systematic sexual, reproductive, and gender-based violence against Palestinians as part of a broader strategy to undermine their right to self-determination. The report states that Israel has committed genocidal acts through the destruction of reproductive healthcare facilities, the imposition of a siege, and the denial of humanitarian aid. Key Findings: ➤ Sexual and Gender-Based Violence as a Strategy of War: ➝ Israeli security forces allegedly force public stripping, sexual harassment, threats of rape, and sexual assault as standard procedures against Palestinians.➝ Rape and genital violence were reportedly committed under explicit orders or implicit encouragement from Israeli leadership.➝ Israeli settlers in the West Bank allegedly…

Photo: Araquém Alcántara The United States will expand the policy of restricting visas related to Cuba, which will now involve the suspension of those associated with the island’s international medical cooperation agreements. This would restrict the issuance of visas to Cuban and third country government officials, qualified as “alleged accomplices”, as well as to persons responsible for this international medical care program. The action, which constitutes the seventh aggression against the Caribbean nation in a month, was announced on Tuesday by U.S. Secretary of State Marco…
