There are no African-controlled military bases in Europe or America. Yet, the United States and Europe maintain numerous military bases across Africa.
A continent of over a billion people, with hundreds of millions of hectares of arable land and trillions of dollars’ worth of natural resources, does not have a single military base in the West. This is part of the reason why NATO, backed by the Obama-led administration, orchestrated the downfall of Muammar Gaddafi. Gaddafi was on the verge of transforming Africa into one of the most powerful continents in the world — with a unified currency, a continental army, borderless trade, and a strong, unified military. These efforts threatened to elevate Africa into a global superpower.
They saw his vision and launched covert operations to destroy it. Obama and his co-conspirators branded Gaddafi a dictator, turned his people against him, and eventually had him killed. Libya — once one of the most stable and prosperous nations in Africa — was plunged into chaos and has remained war-torn ever since.
The West has a long history of eliminating African leaders who dream of unity and independence. They killed Patrice Lumumba, Thomas Sankara, and ousted Kwame Nkrumah. Every African visionary who dared to dream of a united Africa has been silenced. Isn’t it clear that the West does not want Africa to progress? That imperialists only pursue their own interests, never ours?
They may send NGOs under the guise of help, but don’t be deceived. Their goal is not to see us united or prosperous. That is why it’s crucial we rally behind the AES (Alliance of Sahel States) and support their mission to unite Africa under a shared vision. Because the African Union is a failed institution — dead on arrival.
The AU funds only 10% of its own operations, relying on the imperialists to cover the remaining 90%. How can we expect independence and progress from leaders who answer not to their people, but to foreign powers in Paris, London, and Washington?
We cannot develop Africa with leaders still tethered to colonial masters. It’s absurd that the African Union has a plan for 2060 but no concrete strategy for today. How long should the youth of Africa wait? By the time Agenda 2060 is realized, many of today’s youth will be old or gone.
Let’s act now — or continue to perish at the hands of imperialists.
